It's everywhere.

Conversation. Opinions. People getting (and trying to get) other peoples' attentions. People thinking out loud.

As a semi-devoted rebel, my first instinct was to avoid the whole scene. Before it was cool, it was an awesome idea to create your own news site. One that might be more "objective" than those corporate news companies. Or was that more "subjective" in a way I want? It sounded like fun until everyone and their kid brother had a blog and then the idea simply became babble.

Then the cool idea was to make search engines and aggregators that could sift the babble and pull out the gems. Leverage all the subjectivity to get a sort of mass-effect objectivity. But that, too, sprung tendrils everywhere and loss its charm of freshness.

Finally, the idea has become so commonplace that I can see it's real value again. Conversation. Thinking out loud in a way that can be reviewed and analyzed because it's recorded.

So here I am. Begrudgingly dragged to the blogosphere by my desire to learn more by doing. And possibly someone else will find a good idea here and respond to it. My understanding will feed into the shared pool of understanding and add value. Even if my ideas aren't fresh. Even if I'm just adding weight to a big pile of group think. It's my weight to add.

So you, too, are invited to join the conversation. Add your 2¢. And do try to enjoy it.
